Kaikoura's quakes in 3D

AUT University has visualised the 2016 Kaikoura earthquakes, placing them with thousands of other quakes recorded since 1900 in an impressive video.
Scraped from GeoNet data, the visualisation places earthquakes represented as different coloured dots in relation to their magnitude and depth across New Zealand. AUT Research Institute Colab lecturer Dr Stefan Marks created the video using virtual reality equipment.
Dr Marks’ research focuses on transforming data into a new, fully immersive and interactive 3D space that can be used for multi-sensory visualisation, education, modelling, animation, rapid prototyping and much more.
