American burger brand In-N-Out Burger has run a one-day promo in New Zealand but has no immediate plans to set up here.
Soiree events co-ordinator Holly Bidwell says three In-N-Out Burger staff were brought in from the US to help run a pop-up event in Ponsonby today.
Ms Bidwell says it is the company’s 27th pop-up event around the world.
“However, I don’t think they will be here for a while - they are still trying to get all of America,”
She would not tell NBR ONLINE how many burgers were sold today but says the event was intended to run from 11am-3pm.
Instead it closed at about 1pm after selling out.
The burgers were made with New Zealand beef but prepared by the company’s cooks.
Ms Bidwell says the event ran surprisingly well given the only advertising was a quarter page print ad in a community newspaper.
The popular American chain, which opened in 1948, is known for its "secret" burgers, which can be ordered although they are not advertised.
According to BusinessInsider, In-N-Out Burger president Lynsi Torres refuses to franchise the company in order to retain control.
The burger heiress was named the youngest female billionaire in America earlier this year.
