An Australian company is planning to launch vending machines that dispense hot chips across the country by the end of the year.

The Perth-based Hot Chips Company has spent over five years perfecting the vending machines alongside potato processing company Bendoitti Exporters.

The director of Bendoitti Exporters, Stephen Bendoitti, says he expects the vending machines to be so popular, the company will double the amount of potatoes it processes within five years.

“You put your money in and it goes from frozen to the fryer and in your cup within two minutes and 20 seconds,” he says.

“It’s a very sophisticated computer essentially, in a lot of ways.” Vending machines that dispense chips already exist in a handful of other countries, including Belgium, where a similar product was launched in 2013.

Other bizarre vending machines around the world include a cupcake vending machine in Los Angeles and a machine that dispenses mashed potato in Singapore.
