On the same basis sales had risen 4.6 percent in the first quarter, and had fallen 9.5 percent in the second quarter. The New Zealand sales were down 2.4 percent in the year to date to the end of March compared to the same period a year earlier.
Across the whole company, third-quarter sales rose by 1.6 percent compared to a year earlier, while same store sales fell by 4.6 percent.
In Australia, the company's biggest market, third-quarter like-for-like sales fell by 4.2 percent.
The company had 31 stores in New Zealand when it released its 2009 annual report. It operates Harvey Norman and Norman Ross stores.
