Hammerheads restaurant goes under
Auckland eatery forced into liquidation by IRD.
After a quarter of a century in business, Auckland waterfront restaurant Hammerheads has been forced into liquidation by Inland Revenue.
Liquidators Craig Sanson and Colin McCloy have declined to say how much the IRD is claiming from the operators of the restaurant, which was located on Tamaki Drive.
The restaurant closed its doors for the last time in late April on the eve of the High Court appointing the liquidators, who aim to sell the company’s chattels and find a new tenant for the premises.
Hospitality Association chief executive Bruce Robertson has suggested the closure is part of a countrywide trend that’s seeing well established hospitality businesses closing up shop in the face of new market entrants that are better able to meet customers’ changing preferences.
NBR has been unable to contact Hammerheads owners Janine Ann Baker, Douglas James Neesham and Paula Marie Sheahan for comment.
