The government will reveal its next steps in its social housing plan in Auckland later today.
Social Housing Minister Amy Adams will unveil the plan in Auckland’s SkyCity Grand Hotel.
Prime Minister Bill English – not wanting to give too much away at his post-cabinet press conference last night – said it’s “essentially the next stage of the plans for the very large government-owned housing estate.”
He said the government owns land that has 27,000 houses on it in Auckland.
“There is room under the Auckland Unitary Plan to build 60,000 houses on that land and the government won’t need them all.”
