It has been a good week for Saatchi & Saatchi, which took out three golds and the top prize at last night’s Direct Marketing awards as well as winning a new creative account.

The Auckland-based ad agency's Snap Scholarships campaign for ASB won the Grand Prix and golds for excellence in strategy, best in social media and best in industry (finance).

The campaign targets tertiary students with a series of challenges and prizes on Snapchat to drive new student sign-ups. It also won gold in the digital category at last year’s Effie awards, contributing to ASB winning client of the year.

The embattled Saatchi & Saatchi also today announced its first client win in several months: digital electricity company Electric Kiwi.

Electric Kiwi managing director Julian Kardos says the company was impressed by the Saatchi team and how they “captured the spirit of who we are and what we want to stand for.”

“They will be important partners as we continue to grow and we’re looking forward to seeing the new work appearing soon.”

Saatchi & Saatchi recently lost two of its top brass: chief executive Nicky Bell will leave the agency in April and director of strategy Murray Streets has already jumped ship to FCB as general manager of business innovation and strategy.

A number of long-term, high-profile clients have also recently left the agency, including Spark and Tui.

The other big winner at the Direct Marketing awards was JustOne, which won five golds, four silvers and seven bronzes across six different clients.
