Global group buys Business World Travel
A global travel management and events business, ATPI Group, has bought Newmarket-based Business World Travel for an undisclosed sum. With special feature audio.
A global travel management and events business, ATPI Group, has bought Newmarket-based Business World Travel for an undisclosed sum.
Business World Travel was founded in 1992 by Grant Bevin to specialise in European trade fairs and other corporate needs. Mr Bevin will remain with the business.
ATPI has 34 wholly-owned offices in 18 countries and a network of more than 100 offices worldwide operating in event management, corporate travel, shipping and energy and online travel technology.
Its recent Asia-Pacific acquisitions include Australia-based Voyager and DTC Travel in Malaysia, as well as expanding its Singapore office.
It also launched ATPI Sports Events in Australia earlier this year. ATPI handles travel requirements for the Volvo round-the-world race, English soccer and international rugby.
One of ATPI's attractions to Business World Travel is its involvement in servicing the oil and gas industry, which generates a lot of travel through crew changes on ships and rigs.
Chief executive Graham Ramsey says ATPI’s growth strategy over the past two years has focused on extensive investment and acquisitions.
The business is funded by private equity fund ICG in partnership with seven major banks, Lloyds, ING, HSBC, RBS, Investec, Aimco and Bank of Ireland.
Its annual turnover is aropund $US2 billion.
Business World Travel managing director Grant Bevin says travel management sector is rapidly developing its technological and client service capabilities.
“The ATPI Group’s expertise will empower new opportunities for us. I am excited that Business World Travel is now part of one of the most dynamic businesses in the world,” Mr Bevin says in a statement.
