GE Capital has signed Y&R as its New Zealand creative agency, for full service.
The appointment covers creative, direct, social and digital work for all of GE Capital’s brands including GE Money, Gem Visa, Custom Fleet, Equipment Finance, Pacific Premium Funding and Distribution Finance.
Y&R chief executive Jon Ramage said GE Capital had serious growth ambitions and the agency would be focussing, to start with, on the consumer facing brand GE Money and GE Capital’s new product Gem Visa.
“But they’ve got a whole long list of plans that are going to be rolled out which is pretty exciting.”
GE Capital New Zealand chief marketing officer Monique Cairns said she was looking to consolidate and localise the company’s creative partners.
“After a rigorous selection process we are delighted to partner with Y&R. Y&R has proven industry expertise, and demonstrated an understanding and empathy with our audience, and creative excellence,”
Mr Ramage said part of this localization would include localizing content and making it more relevant to New Zealanders, as well as consolidating agency partners.
He said it was a significant process to go through as GE Capital was a global business, and that he was unsure of the deal’s worth.
“We know it’s going to be a good piece of business for us but we just don’t know the complete scope of that yet.”
Mr Ramage said Y&R had significant financial services experience, including Bank of New Zealand as a client, the public break up of which NBR reported in 2009.
