One of the top six executives who worked under Kim Dotcom at Megaupload has been arrested in the United States for copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit racketeering.
US District Court records indicate that Andrus Nomm, former head of the website’s software development division, was arrested on Monday in Virginia according to AP.
He was initially arrested in 2012 in the Netherlands shortly after the raid on Kim Dotcom’s mansion, and has been fighting extradition since then.
It is not known whether his departure to the US was voluntary. If it was this indicates a plea bargain may have been struck.
Court records do not list an attorney for Mr Nomm.
Kim Dotcom’s US-based lawyer, Ira Rothken, tweeted that he is looking at the situation and that Mr Nomm was “hardly mentioned in the indictment [against] Kim Dotcom.”
NBR ONLINE has approached Mr Rothken for comment but has yet to receive a response.
