Final Campbell Live to screen this Friday
John Campbell to exit TV3 after 24 years with the network.
MediaWorks says Friday will be John Campbell’s last day on air on TV3 in the final episode of Campbell Live.
In a story on the news section of TV3’s website (MediaWorks appears to have abandoned the usual practice of sending out media releases for anything relating to Campbell Live) the company’s group head of news Mark Jennings is quoted as saying the final episode on Friday would be a “special” one to "see John off in style."
Mr Jennings also thanks “John Campbell, the current Campbell Live team, and everyone who has worked on the programme over the past 10 years for their contributions to TV3 and MediaWorks .”
An unnamed entertainment programme will apparently screen in the 7pm slot from Monday, June 1, until the new current affairs show that group chief executive Mark Weldon has promised will be a somehow more “relevant option for audiences and advertisers” than Campbell Live is up and running.
In previous statements, MediaWorks functionaries estimated the new current affairs show – which will run at 7pm Mondays-Thursdays – will take six to eight weeks to pull together.
Campbell Live’s old 7pm Friday slot will be taken by another unnamed entertainment show.
