Sussan Turner takes role just eight months after she left rival broadcaster.
Sussan Turner has been appointed to the board of TVNZ, just eight months after she stepped down from her previous role as MediaWorks group chief executive.
The appointment was announced today by Broadcasting Minister Amy Adams, who noted that Ms Turner’s “extensive television and media knowledge and experience ... will bring real depth and substance to the role.”
Ms Adams also announced that Therese Walsh, a TVNZ board member since 2012, has been elevated to the position of deputy chairwoman, having made a “considerable contribution” during the past three years.
Both women have been appointed for three-year terms and their appointments mean the TVNZ board is now unusual in New Zealand in that a majority of its members are women.
In the same press release, Ms Adams announced the reappointment of Gary Monk to Radio New Zealand’s board for a term of six months.
Mr Monk has been a Radio New Zealand director since 2009.
