Duco snags Snedden for ambitious growth plans

Duco Events has hired Martin Snedden for a new chief executive role, as it plans for growth abroad.
Director David Higgins told NBR ONLINE the NZ Cricket Board member and former Rugby World Cup boss will start in November.
Mr Higgins says while he and co-director Dean Lonergan are good at coming up with ideas and taking risks, a strong leader and manager is needed to lead the team.
Mr Snedden is well respected for his sporting administration skills. He is also on the board of the World Masters Games, the single biggest multi-sport event in the world to be held in Auckland in 2017.
Mr Higgins says Duco, which is well known as the promoters of boxer Joseph Parker and the NRL Nines, wants turnover to grow to $100 million within three to five years.
The events company’s current turnover is about $15-20 million, he says.
Mr Higgins says Duco had approached Mr Snedden to help during its NRL Nines event but he has only become available now.
“He has massive credibility and can open many doors which will allow us to go to the next level.”
Mr Higgins says he wants to build the international event sport business, and wanted to create sporting content Duco could own, perhaps in partnership with major publishers.
