Axe attacks, relationship disputes and multi-million dollar property deals provided some flavour from the courts this week but brothels were just as prominent.

NBR court reporter Hamish McNicol says Rich Lister Chow brothers have paid $100,000 to settle several claims brought against them by the liquidators of one of their companies.

The company was put in liquidation after a $300,000 fitout for one of John and Michael Chow’s Mermaid brothels fell through, with liquidators now having settled several disputes with thebrothers relating to the company.

Otherwise, a former Rich Lister has made a return to the property scene the Chows are now trying to fill, after he was discharged from his multi-million dollar bankruptcy last month.

Mr McNicol says Don Ha, who made a one-time appearance on the NBR Rich List in 2007 with an estimated worth of $60 million, has continued to sell real estate at the company which bears his name, while a bankrupt.

A ban on being a company director for two and a half years has since been revoked, however, but the reasons for it remain unclear.
