Starbucks is launching a “cookie straw” to tie in with the launch of the new S’mores-flavoured frappucino,

(For non-Americans, a S’more is a traditional treat of marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers.)

The edible straw is being offered only in the US and Canada and is described as a “a rolled sweet wafer biscuit lined with rich chocolate ganache.”

The straw is priced at 95c but baristas will be giving out free ones while supplies last.

Biscuit-themed receptacles have become all the rage in the US in recent years.

New York bakery Dominique Ansell, which invented cronuts, is famous for its “cookie shots” – a small cup made from chocolate-chip biscuits that is filled with vanilla-flavoured milk.

A bonus is that a cookie straw or cup not as bad for the environment as a plastic straw.
