Clyde Quay development tops property awards
It is the first Wellington property to win the Supreme Award in five years.
Wellington’s Clyde Quay Wharf development was the winner of the Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards held recently.
The Willis Bond & Co development received the Supreme Award at a black tie gala dinner at Vector Arena in Auckland attended by 1350 people from around New Zealand.
It is the first Wellington property to win the Supreme Award in five years.
Built on an existing wharf that had operated since 1907, originally as a working wharf and later as the overseas passenger terminal for Wellington, Clyde Quay Wharf is a residential development on Wellington’s waterfront.
It incorporates 76 apartments with retail and office accommodation.
Chief judge John Dunn says judges were impressed by the scope of the project, the attention to detail, and the cooperation of all stakeholders.
“The development has incorporated leading edge architectural and engineering features, which benefits both occupants and users.”
Judges are required to evaluate all excellence and award category winners on economic factors, design and construction, efficiency of operation, owner and user satisfaction, contribution to the community, potential cultural and social benefits, degree of difficulty associated with the development and any environmentally sustainable features and seismic measures incorporated into the project.
This year there were 92 nominations
