PAE New Zealand has won a $100 million contract to operate and maintain the support infrastructure for the United States Antarctic Programme.

The company, which is part of the $US1.2 billion PAE Inc Group operating worldwide, was selected by the prime contractor to the programme, Lockheed Martin.

Under the contract, PAE will work with Lockheed Martin to provide a cost-effective and streamlined service at Christchurch supporting “people and equipment, medical facilities, research vessels, construction projects and remote sites in and around Antarctica”.

PAE New Zealand CEO Philip Orchard says the company “is proud to work with more than 2000 programme participants involved in valuable research in Antarctica who will transit through Christchurch".

“Our New Zealand team is excited to ensure the Antarctic programme continues to reach and even surpass its research goals.”

Employing about 330 staff, the company provides facilities management and operational support services throughout New Zealand and is active in the defence, local government, education, healthcare, manufacturing, energy and commercial sectors.
