Steam train business on the market again for $2.33m.
A broker marketing the Kingston Flyer is busy this week looking for a buyer at the TRENZ conference in Auckland.
Adrian Chisholm, owner of Tourism Properties, says he has spoken with several overseas interests at TRENZ, New Zealand's premier tourism trade event, and there has been a good level of interest.
The owner of the Flyer, David Bryce, bought it at a receivership sale in 2010.
But for health reasons he has placed it back on the market after carrying out considerable refurbishment of the steam-powered train, including repairs to its boiler.
The 12 titles land and building at Kingston near Queenstown make up appprioximately 70% of the $2.5 million asking sale price.
The balance of $779,000 is the price for the two locomotives, seven carriages, plant, equipments, brand, goodwill, a website, plus the Flyer Cafe & Bar business, chattels and goodwill.
Mr Chisholm says the price is well below replacement value.
There is also the rail corridor from Fairlight to Kingston that has been prepared to plant lucerne pasture, and a paper road along most of the rail corridor with a cycleway planned.
Included in the sale is surplus residential land suitable for the subdivision of approximately 15 sections.
