Bell Gully lawyer wins pan-Asia award
David Cooper famously defended the former directors of Feltex Carpets.
Bell Gully partner David Cooper has won the Disputes Star of the Year for New Zealand award at the second annual Asia law Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards 2016.
Mr Cooper specialises in company and securities law, competition law and complicated contractual disputes.
His recent work includes acting for NZX in a lengthy High Court trial concerning the acquisition of an Australian commodity exchange and defending the former directors of Feltex Carpets in the long-running prospectus class action brought by a group of investors.
The awards ceremony was held in Hong Kong on September 27, honouring the top dispute practitioner and the national firm of the year in 14 jurisdictions.
Last year, Bell Gully was named National Firm of the Year for New Zealand at the inaugural Asialaw Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards.
