Franceska Banga, chief executive of the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund since its establishment in 2001, is to depart the role next year.
The long-serving executive’s exit was announced by chairman Murray Gribben today.
“Franceska has been an outstanding CEO for NZVIF and a leader for the venture capital and angel fund sectors in New Zealand,” he says.
“She was involved in the design of NZVIF from before it was established with $100 million of investment capital. It is now managing around $280 million, which is being invested through venture capital funds and alongside angel networks.”
The NZVIF gets government money to invest in a range of private sector venture capital funds.
Since 2001 it has invested $149.1 million. Its portfolio is currently worth $155m.
