Following the fallout it was revealed by NBR that the government had signed lucrative contracts with Fuji Xerox just days before they filed their return with the companies office. The details were originally published Thursday November 10 2016. 

Following the news that the Japanese owners were launching their own independent investigtion into Fuji Xerox New Zealand, NZ First leader Winston Peters called for a government inquiry into what he described as "highly irregular" contacts awarded to the company. Following an independent investigation by Fuji Xerox's Japanese owners, it's chairman and three other executives stood down. The news was first reported in this article which was origianlly published June 13 2017.

Doged by the scandal the company was questioned by Minister Simon Bridges who sought assurances from the chief executive of the Ministry of Business that “everything is above board.” The article relating to this was originally published on Wednesday June 14 2017. 

On Friday June 30 2017 NBR revealed that Fuji Xerox were so aware of thier inflated revenue that they even had a code word according to the independent report commissioned by Fuji’s Japanese parent company Fujifilm.

Fuji Xerox's former auditor was told to restate the copier firm's accounts for the past five years. The story was broken by NBR and originally published on July 20 2017.

On July 28 2017 NBR announced that it was withdrawing from the EY business journalisim awards after respected journalist and former EY business journalism awards resigned from the judging panel.
