Christchurch company ARANZ Geo received a special commendation.
Auckland agri-tech company Tru-Test Group won this year’s Supreme Award at the New Zealand International Business Awards presented in Auckland last night.
For the first time, the judges also awarded a special commendation to Christchurch company ARANZ Geo to recognise the closeness of the margin between it and the winner.
Tru-Test, a manufacturer of livestock scales, electronic identification products and milk metering equipment, also won the ANZ best business operating internationally in the over $50 million category.
ARANZ Geo, a developer of 3D geological modelling, won the ANZ best business operating internationally in the under $10 million category.
Comvita chief executive Brett Hewlett was named KPMG outstanding international business leader, while The New Zealand Merino Company’s chief executive, John Brakenridge, was named KPMG Leader for his outstanding contribution to international business. In the 2010 awards, he won the outstanding leader category.

ANZ best business operating internationally ($10-50 million): Gentrack Group, a software developer for utility companies
Callaghan Innovation international success through the application of innovation: Buckley Systems, a high-tech equipment manufacturer
James & Wells best commercialisation of intellectual property in international business: Auckland UniServices, the research commercialising arm of the University of Auckland
AUT Business School most innovative business model in international business: JUCY rental cars and The New Zealand Merino Company (joint winners)
Best use of design in international business: 3i Innovation, which designs and makes road markers.
