Deloitte has appointed Auckland barrister Michael Webb as a non-executive director.
Mr Webb was a senior partner in Simpson Grierson for several years.
Deloitte chairman Ross Milne said Mr Webb will bring an extensive knowledge of the financial sector, particularly around commercial and regulatory issues.
“Michael’s background is uniquely varied and he brings a depth of knowledge of the financial sector not often found in this country,” Mr Milne said.
From 2005 to 2009, Mr Webb was the managing director of financial sector development and policy for the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority, where he focused on developing the QFC’s legal, regulatory and court regimes.
He also chaired the Ministerial Task Force on Financial Intermediaries in 2004/05, which was the precursor to legislation on the regulation of financial advisers.
Mr Webb had previously served as a non-executive director on the boards of Fulton Hogan Group, Tower Trust Group, and Learning Media, and on the Securities Commission from 1992 to 2003, including occasions as acting chairman.
