Jarrod Gilbert – author of Patched: the History of Gangs in New Zealand, part-time fireman, Canterbury University sociology lecturer, Independent Research Solutions principal, TV pundit and Canon Media Awards 2015 blogger of the year – has a new role: trustee of the New Zealand Public Interest Project (NZ PIP).
As the public face of the project, Dr Gilbert did the rounds of The Nation and Q+A last weekend, promising NZ PIP will investigate "mistakes" in the justice system.
The new advocacy group intends to look at the case of Timothy Taylor, jailed for the murder of Lisa Blakie, and work with the Council of Trade Unions on a criminal prosecution of the forestry industry over its safety record.
It will also consider civil action on behalf of Christchurch earthquake victims.
Readers can ask Dr Gilbert anything they like. He will answer your questions this afternoon on NBR Radio.
