Former Realestate.co.nz CEO gets back in the game.
Alistair Helm has joined Trade Me's Property team as Head of Product.
He says he will be "driving the on-going development of the technical platform for Trade Me Property across all device types."
His first day was December 1.
Mr Helm was CEO of the pan-industry site Realestate.co.nz from 2006 and 2012.
Over the past couple of years he's been best known for his Properazzi real estate market analysis site, and commentary on TV and in other media — most recently giving Auckland's sky-high new CVs a bash.
Another of Mr Helm's hot topics over the past year has been the stand-off between real estate companies and Trade Me over listing fees; a stoush that saw some agents boycott the site for a period. He will bring an insider's knowledge to that ongoing dispute.
"I am delighted to have been offered this opportunity to contribute to the development of Trade Me Property as the leading source of information and property listings for buyers and renters in NZ," Mr Helm tells NBR.
"Trade Me is a great kiwi icon and a highly successful digital business by world standards. The transition of real estate marketing to the digital platform has huge scope and is a fast emerging global business area involving global media players and I’m really excited to be continuing to be a part of this industry and being a part of the fast growing team to spearhead this for NZ’ers working at Trade Me Property."
