Once Were Warriors author Alan Duff has declared himself bankrupt while living in a French chateau..
Mr Duff, made himself bankrupt on June 16, listing his address as a chateau in the picturesque French village of Evres-sur-Indre (see Google Street View below).
He narrowly avoided bankruptcy in 2008 after convincing his creditors, owed a combined $3.6 million, to vote for a proposal which promised to repay the money by May last year.
Since moving to France he published two commercially unsuccessful novels.
His bankruptcy will be handled by the Official Assignee in Napier.
