Shares in milk marketer A2 Milk have soared 23% on news the company has received takeover interest from “two associated trade parties.”
The company says the proposal is highly conditional and may be withdrawn if it its details are made public.
A key condition is that there is no change in the number of shares on issue, because A2 says it had been in the advanced stages of planning an equity capital raising.
“The board intends to seek further information in order to evaluate the proposal and will update the market on further developments as appropriate,” it says.
“There is no certainty that the proposal will result in any transaction and the board does not consider a takeover imminent. Persons considering purchasing or selling shares in A2 are encouraged to seek their own advice.”
A2 shares leapt 13c to 70c on market this morning, valuing the company’s equity at $462 million.
