BNZ acquires BlinkPay, set to pour ‘heaps’ into open banking

Māori-owned fintech startup was the first to strike bilateral open banking deals with all four major banks.

BNZ has acquired open banking fintech startup BlinkPay for an undisclosed amount, but which co-founder Adrian Smith has called “heaps”.

Existing shareholders, including Smith and his late co-founder Dan Karehana’s estate, as well as Ngati Awa Asset Holdings and Ngāi Tahu-affiliated Whale
