Smith & Caughey’s takes ground floor, to remain open

The decision will save about half of the iconic department store’s 200-plus jobs.

Smith & Caughey’s will remain open in a reduced format through its Queen Street location.

Auckland retailer Smith & Caughey’s will continue to operate in a reduced capacity. The department store will trade from a reduced format from the end of January, which will see operations downsized and refined to the ground floor of the Queen St store and the online store only.
