Kmart NZ approaches $1b turnover, profit up 52%

Warehouse Group interim chief executive John Journee last week said it could compete with Kmart.

The Kmart Group – which has more than 300 stores across Australasia – recorded revenue growth of 4%.

Turnover at retailer Kmart fell just shy of $1 billion in New Zealand in the year ended June 30, financial statements filed to the Companies Office show.

The retailer – owned by ASX-listed Wesfarmers – declared total revenue of $999.5 million, up 8% on last year’s $923.9m. The company recorded
