Overseas forestry purchases ramp up in September

More than 73,000ha of forestry have been bought by foreign investors in 11 months.

The Overseas Investment Office issued consent for nine forestry sales last month, taking the total forestry consents granted to 27 since new rules were introduced last October.

The 27 forestry consents make up 73,200 hectares of land, 80% of which was existing forestry land.
