Overdue rent payments soar during pandemic

While May’s commercial rent payments are an improvement on April, retail and tourism are expected to lag.

Almost 40% of commercial rent payments for the start of May are overdue as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to property management platform Re-Leased.

The Auckland-based cloud software provider analysed data from more than 10,000 commercial properties and 30,000 leases in New Zealand
