Build costs in retreat, for the first time

Build costs moved into reverse last quarter.

Construction cost inflation moved into reverse gear for the first time in at least 12 years, dropping 1.1% during the June quarter.

That’s according to the Cordell construction cost index, which is based on the price of building a standard three-bedroom, two-bathroom brick and tile standalone
