PROCTOR, Quintin

Who says stacking supermarket shelves isn’t a real job? Certainly not Quintin Proctor.

Proctor now owns the bustling, 630sq m Wairau Road Pak’n Save on Auckland’s North Shore. For him, it’s a story of a determined young man working his way up; he first entered the supermarket business stacking shelves after school as a 15-year-old.

Beginning in Hamilton he soon made his way up the Foodstuffs chain, becoming a qualified butcher along the way. He eventually took ownership positions, becoming head of New World Milford and then Pak’n’Save Kaitaia.

The road to the opening of the Wairau Rd store was a long and rocky one but, when it finally came to fruition in 2009, Proctor, then only 38, was given the duty of running it. He’s been there ever since, seeing it expand and turn into one of the country’s busiest supermarkets.

He’s also a keen fisherman and has properties in the Auckland suburb of Coatesville, as well as Picton and Whangamata. He lives with his wife Kimberly and their three children – Ryan, Josh and Kayla.
