Treasury estimates $5b bill for Auckland housing infrastructure
Government has since made it easier for housing developments to proceed.

The Treasury estimated it would cost about $5 billion to build the infrastructure for the 50 to 55,000 homes needed to address Auckland’s housing shortage.
The estimate was prepared for government ministers in October last year and obtained by NBR under the Official Information Act.
