The Government’s net worth continues to rise

Net debt as a proportion of GDP was in line with the Budget forecast.

Government spending was up $10.8b in the last fiscal year.

The audited accounts for the Government in the year to the end of June show a slight improvement compared with the numbers in the Pre-election Economic and Fiscal Update.

The operating surplus was $235 million higher at $5.321 billion, largely due to slightly better than expected investment gains.
