Submitters call for changes to Government’s minerals strategy

Cabinet will get a final version of the strategy by the end of the year.

The Government’s draft minerals strategy has the goal of doubling mineral exports to $2b by 2035.

Submitters on the coalition Government’s minerals strategy generally agree with its approach, but many oppose new coal mines being opened.

They also suggested excluding seabed mining and the Fast-track Approvals Bill from the strategy because of environmental concerns.
