Reserve Bank says Auckland lockdown confirmed monetary policy stance

The Reserve Bank is feeling a slight sense of vindication after Auckland went into Alert level 3 lockdown over the weekend.

Last week some economists had suggested the bank might want to signal – if not a loosening of monetary policy – at least an end to its current cycle of tightening.
