RBNZ wants retail banks to be part of solution, not problem

Adrian Orr says he does not want banks’ ‘nervousness’ to lead to a credit crunch.

Reserve Bank governor Adrian Orr is again urging retail banks to lend to businesses, saying he wants them to be part of the solution to the Covid-19 downturn.  

In April, Orr told Parliament’s Epidemic Response Committee banks should be courageous and continue lending.
