RBNZ pessimistic about economy, ready to use more monetary stimulus

Some monetary policy committee members think the second lockdown in Auckland dented confidence.

The Reserve Bank has signalled it could use its proposed ‘funding for lending programme’ before the end of the year to give certainty to retail banks about their access to funds.

Under the FLP, banks would get long-term finance from the RBNZ to then on-lend to households and businesses.
