Migration drops from 2016 peak

Numbers still provisional as Statistics New Zealand uses new methodology.

Net migration remains high but has fallen from the peak of 63,900 in the year to the end of July 2016.

Statistics New Zealand released updated migration estimates for the year to the end of May 2019, which indicate net migration of 46,100. The revised figure is 9400 lower than the estimate
