Low consumer confidence likely to hold back spending

Consumer confidence has fallen to its lowest level since the global financial crisis in 2008.

But confidence has still not plunged as low as it got then.

The Westpac McDermott Miller consumer confidence index fell 2.1 points in September, dropping to 95.1.
