Govt dumps policies as it refocuses on ‘bread and butter’

Scrapped policy proposals including its biofuels mandate, social insurance scheme, and the planned RNZ-TVNZ merger.

The Government is dropping its proposed social insurance scheme, dumping the biofuels mandate, and will only increase the minimum wage by the rate of inflation from April 1.

That still means the minimum wage will go up by $1.50 to $22.70 a hour.
