Firm given growth fund money buys sawmill to keep it shut

Previous owner calls it a body blow to the community.

The company keeping the doors shut on the largest employer in a South Taranaki town had previously been granted Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) money for another mill.

The Waverley Sawmill recently laid off 65 employees in the sale process of the land and sawmill for an undisclosed sum to Far East
