Big spending jump during May no surprise

Consumers started spending again in May, with purchases on electronic cards $2.3 billion higher than in April, when the country was largely in lockdown.

But electronic card spending of $5.2b was still $332 million lower – the equivalent of a 6% drop – compared with May last year.
