The once unelectable Bill Shorten has a good chance of becoming Australia’s next prime minister after the country goes to the polls on May 18.

In the latest Ipsos-Fairfax poll Labor was ahead of the coalition 52% to 48% and in the Newspoll the margin in Labor’s favour was 51 to 49.
