Act calculates cost of lower disclosure threshold for donations

Justice Minister dismisses criticism that now is not the time to tighten disclosure rules.

The Act Party estimates it could be $300,000 out of pocket if new rules around political donations become law.

Under the changes proposed in the Electoral Amendment Bill, anyone giving more than $5000 to a political party would be named. Currently the threshold is $15,000.
