It is now over 100 years since scheduled airmail services began in this country. On January 31, 1921 an Avro 504K took off in wet and windy weather from Sockburn aerodrome, just outside Christchurch, bound for Ashburton and Timaru and carrying New Zealand’s first official scheduled
