Australians scrap Antarctic sealed runway plan

Environmental impact cited as reason for dropping project.

The Australian government announced on November 25 that it had scrapped its plan for a 20-year construction phase to build a 2700m sealed runway at Davis Station, Princess Elizabeth Land, the busiest of three widely separated permanent bases and research outposts managed by the Australian Antarctic
