Supreme Court dismisses Beca’s ‘longstop’ claim

Majority decision means Beca could also be liable in BNZ damaged building case against Wellington City Council.

The Supreme Court has dismissed engineering consultancy Beca's bid to strike-out Wellington City Council's claim that it should contribute to any liability that it may face in a suit brought by BNZ over the bank's irreparably damaged building following the 2016 Kaikōura earthquake.
